Commissioned Work
The Gathering Tree - 2018
In the Spring of 2018 Keewatin Public School, in Kenora Ontario, asked me to paint a mural; The school’s aim was to have a unique descriptor for the 7 grandfather teachings as well as to have a focal point in their entryway, one that made a statement. This school is a pioneer in a new kind of outdoor education called ‘forest school’, where their students are able to explore and learn all about the nature that surrounds their area.
In the future, as the school year progresses, the school aims to utilize this piece as a community builder, one where each child has their name displayed and where, under the branches of the tree, friendships can be made and knowledge can be passed on.
** This piece has since been demolished, the school has undergone extensive renovations and this wall was not saved**
Thompson Island Scenic - 2017
This piece was a commission out on Thompson Island on Lake of the Woods, in Kenora Ontario. The owner wanted to be reminded of where they were out on the lake, even when they were at the farthest point on their property. This was the largest piece I had ever attempted, at this time. While painting has never really been my go-to medium, it was a wonderful eye-opening experience, one that I truly enjoyed.
- the wooden geese were an addition by the owner after my work was done.
